Working to make a difference

Pa Lee MouaEver since she was 13, Pa Lee Moua has been working to make a difference.

Pa Lee started to work early. At age 13 she was leveling the walking trails at Kohler-Andrae State Park in Sheboygan as part of a summer job program developed by a community resource group.

“Besides being paid for our work helping make the park better it was very educational. We learned to identify trees, birds, animal homes and more,” she explained.

Pa Lee came to the United States when she was three years old. She recognizes the sacrifices her parents made giving up their way of life, their homeland, and everything so that their children could have a better future.

You should give back what is given to you

“My parents sacrificed to help me and now I am using my education and experience to help others. You should give back what is given to you.”

Pa Lee with studentsPa Lee’s commitment to students continues today as UWFox’s Multicultural Advisor/Learning Center Coordinator. She knows that through her daily interactions with students she can make a difference in someone’s life.

“I really enjoy the sincere gratitude that comes from students. They are very appreciative of my efforts in helping them to reach their academic goals.”

Pa Lee’s involvement in the greater Fox Valley community is significant. Pa Lee is currently involved with Toward Community, Hmong Interagency, and Hispanic Interagency in our community. It’s her believe that what she does makes a difference in individuals, our community, and the world.

“The changes that have been implemented are positive results from dedicated individuals and their efforts to bettering the community. As the community grows, so do its people. It makes me excited to be part of enhancing our increasingly diverse community with effective changes.”
