Working on campus provides a viable way to concentrate on your studies while earning money to pay for your educational expenses. If you are employed on campus, you will fit the job into your class schedule. This will provide you with the flexibility that is often needed to be a successful college student. Many times a campus job can fit your career interests and provide you with job experience in a certain field as well.

There are two types of student employment on campus. To determine which type of employment you may be eligible for, you will need to apply for financial aid.

  • Federal Work-Study - Students eligibility for work-study will have it indicated on their award letter.
  • Regular Student Employment - Regular employment is not identified on the award letter.

How to Apply for Student Employment

Click here to download the Student Employment Application Form. Please print the form and bring it to the Business Services Office, room 1109. Your application will be available for review by departments. You may also contact the department or departments for which you are interested in working (see contact information below).

  • Federal Work Study
    • Complete the Federal Financial Aid Application (FAFSA)
    • Accept Work Study on Award Letter
    • Complete the campus student employment application and return it to the campus Business Office
    • Contact campus department
    • Meet with Student Services Representative for authorization
  • Regular Student Employment
    • Complete the campus student employment application and return to campus Business Office
    • Contact campus department

Hours Worked Per Week

Generally students would work 5- 20 hours per week. The number of hours will vary according to the department needs and the hours available from the student.

Hourly Wage

  • First year students = $7.50 per hour
  • Students who continue after first year = $8.00 per hour

Gordon Bubolz Nature Preserve

This position is responsible for the implementation of learning experiences through environmental programming presented by the Bubolz Nature Preserve. Teacher Naturalists learn sills based on hands-on experience by teaching the concepts offered through the Preserve’s educational programming grades K-8. Training is provided and an extensive library consisting of the latest materials dealing with interpretive communication and natural history information is available for reference.

Lab Sciences

We especially need someone to help A.M.s. Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Thursday to help in our lab prep room.

Library

Fox Journal

Gain marketing experience while selling advertising space in the college newspaper! No experience necessary. Applicants must be outgoing and possess strong record-keeping skills. Sales representatives are paid on commission, earning 15 percent of their individual sales. Flexible and unlimited hours.

Museum Gift Shop

General Description

Museum/Planetarium gift shop staff. Handle retail transactions and deposits, provide customer service, stock and maintain merchandise, conduct inventories, and maintain gift shop appearance and cleanliness.

5-20 hours/week; flexible schedule

Requirements
  • Work experience in retail or customer service position preferred, but not required
  • Friendly personality and desire to provide good customer service
  • Federal Work Study preferred, but not required
Details

Gift Shop staff provides important interface between the museum/ planetarium and the public. Good “people skills” are essential. Staff must be able to operate a standard non-computerized cash register at a standing cash station, lift up to 30 lbs., and climb a 5-foot ladder. Staff members receive a 15% discount on gift shop purchases.

Menasha School Community Learning Center Instructor Assistant

This assistant position provides an opportunity to help children to succeed in life. You must feel comfortable interacting with children grades k-8. This is a great opportunity for anyone studying education or would like experience working with children. Requirements include; friendly personality, good people skills, ability to multi-task. We will work around your schedule. Work-study students preferred.
