Starting The Semester Off Right

The first week of the semester can be overwhelming. Below is a list of information that you may find useful to get the semester off to a good start.

General Information

  • Facility Hours - find out when the building, library and labs are available.
  • Academic Calendar - Important dates for dropping courses and registering classes for spring.
  • Student ID - You need a valid student ID to use the campus facility and check out library or technology items. Stop at Student Affairs to get your ID.
  • Parking Info - A parking sticker is required for all campus lots. Stop at the Business Office for more information. Check the campus map to find valid parking locations.
  • Food Services has their monthly menu posted online. Make your meal plan accordingly!

Academic Success

  • Student studying in libraryLibrary - Get help with research using online and print resources, check out books, CDs, and DVDs, study in a inviting atmosphere, plug in your laptop, even work on the community jigsaw puzzle for a little relaxation!
  • Student Clubs - Meet new friends with similar interests and get involved on campus.
  • Study Areas - There are many study areas on campus, including the library, union, science wing tables, Learning Center, atrium, second floor Business and Math labs, and couches spread out through the hallways. If the weather is nice there are several outdoor areas as well.

Academic Support Services

  • AODE (Alcohol and Other Drug Education) program offers quality resources covering all aspects of wellness.
  • Counseling Services provides confidential assistance to students who are struggling with a variety of personal issues. Call 920.832.2697 for an appointment or visit them in room 1309.
  • Tutoring/Learning Resource Center provides walk-in and scheduled tutoring and class support.
  • The Developmental Math Lab supports students who are taking Math 090, Math 091, and Math 081.
  • The Writing Pad provides individualized, collaborative writing tutorials and help with writing for any of your classes.



UWFox offers a wide range of lectures and fine arts programs to the campus and its community members. Many are free to UWFox students or at a reduced admission. Please check the Events Calendar for schedule and fees information.

  • Weis Earth Science Museum - Come to the Weis to learn about geology and Wisconsin's mineral heritage and mining history. Students enter free.
