Book Buy Back - “NO TEXTBOOKS LEFT BEHIND”

The UW-Fox Valley Bookstore buys back books everyday! (The best time to sell us your books is Finals Week.) This is an opportunity for students to turn the books they no longer need into cash. We will buy your books, no matter where you purchased them.

Reasons Affecting Book Buyback Value:

  • Instructor has authorized re-use of the book.
  • Instructor has discontinued books or not indicated it will be used next term.
  • Bookstore is now overstocked,
  • Publisher has new edition, and prior edition has no value.
  • Book is too ragged or in too poor condition to be resold.
  • Book has limited nationwide demand.
  • Book is an international edition.

Life of a Textbook

The average life of a typical textbook is about three years; this is often when a new edition appears. The closer a book gets to this age, the less value it has. Because of this, you should sell your books as soon as possible after you have determined that you no longer need them.

Remember: buying used books from other sources is a risk as textbooks can change or vary per semester.

Bookstore Return Policy 2007-2008

All merchandise returns including clothing, gifts, cards, supplies, drug store items and books must be accompanied by a receipt. Merchandise cannot be returned without a receipt.

Refunds will be given back in the method by which the merchandise was originally purchased.

Bookstore returns books on shelves to publishers three (3) weeks after start of classes. Be sure you buy your books before then.

Book Returns

All book returns must be accompanied by a receipt and be within the time period allowed for returns as listed below.

Books purchased as new and returned with writing, highlighting or worn pages will be reimbursed at a reduced price. In addition, any shrink-wrapped books must remain in its original shrink-wrapping to receive a full refund.

Course Packets are not returnable.

New Books that include a CD: CD must be in its original seal or wrapping to receive a full refund. Any books that were sold with a CD must be returned with a CD intact to receive a full refund. (I.e. CD seal or wrapping unbroken.)

Traditional Fall and Spring classes have one week, from the first published start date of class to return books for a full refund with a receipt.

Summer classes have one (1) business day from the first published scheduled start date of class to return books for a full refund with a receipt.

Students who have withdrawn from a class or from the university, after the time allowed for a refund has expired (during current semester only), need to supply a copy of the drop slip(s) and have until the last day of the published course ADD period in which to return books for a full refund. The ADD period is typically (1) week beyond the last day for full refund.

e.g. If classes start on Monday - September 4th, last day for full refund would then be Friday – September 8th. Last day for full refund if you drop a class or leave the school would then be approximately the following Friday – September 15th.

If you miss those dates, your books can only be sold back to the store using the buyback method above.
