Cyclones - Head Men's Basketball Coach

Position Overview
The University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley (Menasha, WI) is searching for a head men’s basketball coach.  This is a fixed term appointment for the specified period only.  Actual responsibilities will be determined after consultation with the UW Fox Athletic Director. 

Typical responsibilities include: 

  • Coach UW Fox men’s varsity basketball
  • Weekday games generally begin at 8:00pm, with Saturday contests being played in the afternoon. (The majority of the games are double-headers with the women’s team playing the first game. You can check the UWFox athletics webpage http://www.uwfox.uwc.edu/athletics/ for a tentative 2008-09 schedule) 
  • It is expected that the team will practice four or five times a week (depending on number of games per week), with times generally being between 3:00 – 7:00 pm.
  • It is expected that the coach will engage in active recruiting of area high school players.
  • The coaching staff will participate in various fund raising activities.
  • The men’s team (players and coaches) are responsible for working the women’s home games (tickets, concessions, scorekeeping, etc.)

 Clerical responsibilities include:

  • Supervision of the athletes and equipment during practice sessions and on all trips (women and men’s teams travel together)
  • Care, inventory, distribution and collection of uniforms
  • Maintenance of statistical records and regular distribution to the league office
  • Routine updating of men’s basketball webpage
  • Submission of daily practice schedule/plan
  • Reporting of scores to the Appleton Post-Crescent after each game
  • Assist with game preparations
  • Attending the annual coaches meeting (via WisLine)

Qualifications:
Basketball coaching experience required (preferred to be high school or above).  Minimum bachelor’s degree preferred, in Physical Education or related field.  Knowledge and experience of the game of basketball are required.  The applicant must also be dedicated to meeting the special needs of college level students.  First Aid and CPR/AED certification is recommended.

Dates of Appointment:  Tentatively October 1, 2008 – February 28, 2009

Salary:  $3000.00
