Appropriate financial aid forms and details are available in the Student Resource/Learning Center Room. Students should check the UW Colleges catalog for complete descriptions of student financial aid policies and regulations.
Generally, a student must be registered for a minimum of 6 credits to eligible for financial aid in that. Students who apply or are classified as Special Students by the university may not be eligible to receive federal or state financial aid funds. Students must maintain satisfactory progress to be eligible to receive financial aid.
Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
Federal regulations require all institutions to establish academic standards that ensure students are progressing toward the completion of a degree. Student who receive financial aid are required to meet the UW Colleges SAP standards. To remain eligible to receive financial aid, you are required to meet the following three conditions:
- Maintain a minimum cum. GPA of 2.0 after completing 48 or more credits. (There is a graduated scale for less than 48 cr.)
- Successfully complete two-thirds of the credits you attempt.
- Attempt a maximum of 90 crs. Including transfer crs. and non-degree/remedial crs.
Students who are ineligible for financial aid because of their SAP status may have their financial aid reinstated by completing a SAP Appeal Form and then completing a SAP contract if the appeal is approved. Students exceeding the maximum timeframe of 90 attempted credits cannot appeal their standing. Students who fail to meet the SAP requirements should contact the Student Services Office.
SAP Holds
When a student fails to meet the SAP policy and loses financial aid eligibility, a HOLD is placed on the student’s record that prevents the student from receiving any further financial aid. This hold does not prohibit the student from registering for classes. If an appeal is filed and approved, the hold is deactivated and the student regains eligibility to receive financial aid. If an appeal is not approved, the student may not receive financial aid at any of the UW College campuses until the student meets the SAP policy requirements. Once the requirements are met, the student is again eligible to receive financial aid in subsequent terms.
The complete policy is located at http://www.uwc.edu/financial-aid/sap/. It is your responsibility to acquaint yourself with the entire policy. Questions can be directed to the Student Services Office.
The UW Colleges School Code is: 003897.
